
Alan is the owner and full time chef of Sarasota Eatz. His passion for food lead him to graduate from the culinary program at SCTI in 1987. His first job at Marina Jacks Restaurant, is where he would meet
Vada who would later become his wife, mother to two boys, and co-owner of Sarasota Eatz. “She has been my biggest support and cheerleader since day one” Alan says.
They quickly decided structure and financial security was important to their future and left the restaurant. Alan went to work for the City of Sarasota in the landscaping department, while Vada pursued Chemistry working for the City of Sarasota Water Department. After 13 years they decided it was time to move up and pursue bigger things. Alan left city to start his first company, Lawns by Kehrer, while Vada went into education. Vada found her passion and is currently working full time as an elementary teacher while finishing her PHD in education. With the support of Vada, Alan sold his first business and opened his first food truck, Sarasota Eatz. Vada being busy with work, school, and their kids could not be the administrative support Alan needed and sought help from their nephew and business owner Leo.
“We started this business as Family Fare and it only seemed fair to get help from family” Vada says. Leo took over the administration allowing Vada to focus on her PHD, and he also helps Alan work the
truck. Leo boasts about his uncle's cooking “His success from the first year showed what he is capable of. I had to help him. He is an amazing chef whose food will speak for itself through quality and consistency."
